About the Trainer
Zenwise K9 is owned and operated by Darin Sellers, CDT. Darin knew he would be working and sharing his life with animals from a very young age. He graduated a semester early from West Virginia University with a B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis in Animal Behavior. As an undergraduate assistant in the Experimental Analysis of Behavior lab, he recognized the opportunities that existed in the field of animal behavior and training. Darin earned a highly competitive Animal Care and Training internship with the U.S. Marine Mammal Program. Here he gained unique and valuable hands on training experience with dolphins and sea lions.
After completing his internship, Darin relocated to San Diego where he worked to rehabilitate and train adoptable animals at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. In the two years with the center, Darin gained a great deal of experience working with dogs of a wide range of backgrounds and training needs. He also worked directly with potential adoptive families to ensure they found a dog that fit their lifestyles.
Darin's next adventure was in the luxury pet retail world. This experience provided Darin with the ability to research natural animal foods, supplements, and supplies. He also worked heavily with clients and their pets to enhance their lives and relationships. He developed a strong sense and understanding of the client's individual needs and was able to use his experience in animal training and behavior to give regular advice as well as support the positive development of their pets.
In 2008 Darin relocated to the East coast to be closer to family and friends and began to develop Zenwise K9. Darin earned his certification, with honors, as a dog trainer through Animal Behavior College, and pulls from all of his career and life experiences to provide pets and their parents with the knowledge, tools, and skills to build strong and rewarding relationships. He is a strong supporter of animal rescue and welfare organizations and understands the importance of training to ensure that our dogs develop the necessary experiences to reduce the number of orphaned animals.
